About me.

Annie has been a summer resident on Madeline Island since 1978. During the winter she lives in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. Both locations offer beautiful views of the water and lovely sunsets that have influenced her paintings as well as her color palette. She has an Associate of Arts degree from Bennett College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona, and was working toward her Master Degree of Fine Arts before the birth of her first child. She is a member of CBAC andFlorida Watercolor Society,. Annie works in both watercolors and acrylics. She notes, "Since I began spending time on Madeline Island, I searched for a medium that could convey the beauty of the natural environment. It was difficult to capture the rich landscapes juxtaposed with the clear waters without creating a painting that merely copied what I saw. I wanted to express a vitality and fluidness along with my great love of color. Through watercolors and acrylics I can create works that both reflect and abstract their natural environment. Along with the energy of nature I love the excitement of the human form. Everything in my art is about energy. It is my hope my paintings will give a unique and personal experience to the viewer just as Madeline Island has given each of us a unique and personal experience." Her work has been displayed in numerous shows including a very successful 70 painting retrospect show at Madeline Island School of the Arts. She had various one man shows in Sarasota and Madeline Island. She has an upcoming one man show at Pasco Fine Art Council in New Port Richey. She is donating all profits to it. Annie's paintings are held in both corporate and private collections throughout the United State and Canada, including the permanent collection of the University of Minnesota. Annie illustrated and published Margaret Harris's book The Princess with Down Syndrome. From the profits Margaret has donated over $2,500 dollars to Guarian ad litem, and Toys for Tots.
